I was also curious as I am starting to write a book. A children's book but still a book.
Currently, I'm reading "Twenty" by Marc Hall. A memoir about his travel adventures over a twenty year span. It's a ;little longer than I would normally read but when there's a story to tell it just keeps coming.
Still reading A happy pocketful of Money. But I’m heading away to some sunshine next week so will be looking for something fresh to read. I love buying books at the airport…. Anyone else?
Yes, but it took me a while to adjust. I should have read the first one again as it’s been 8 years between books: The Cinder Spires. I always like Jim Butchers style and his characterisation is always good, however the last Dresden files was a little too much of a big marvel ending and brief sadly, so hoping he’s not getting bored with his stories, but always fast to read so will know more soon when I finish this one 😊 If you've not read any of his I do recommend them.
I am travelling, currently in Koh Pha-ngan, Thailand. I got a kindle before my trip and I think my reading time has declined. Nothing beats a real life book!
Also love the weekly check in idea, inspiring me for future ideas. Look forward to another week of reading.
Nice weekly coffee stack you’ve got here! Thanks so much for the mention 🤗
My pleasure Jen!
I’m reading The Midnight Library at a cool 81k words. It’s great so far. I have a long flight tomorrow and hoping to get through most of it!
Enjoy, Gareth!
I guess you could call it fantasy.
Adventure stories of boys in their imaginary world.
Sounds good!
Thanks for the mention! I look forward to reading more of your work!
Thank you Walter!
Interesting read this week.

Sounds great! What genre is your children's book? Fantasy?
I’m accompanied by a mug of black tea and rose petals this morning because I fancied something extra
Word length is something I had to contemplate when I wrote my book (out in April). It’s about 60k words. I did find a website that gave me some help.
https://wordcounters.com/word-count/search/
Sounds great Nia! I'll check out that website, too.
Great post this week, "Why Your Articles Fail On Medium and How to Make Them Succeed" and "6 Ways to Avoid the Substack Rut" were my favourites!
Glad you liked the post! 😊

Where will you be chasing that sunshine, Sam?

Sounds like an interesting read for sure!
It is. I'm more than half way through already since starting on Monday.
Still the Olympian Affair by Jim Butcher - it's a tome.
You enjoying it?
