💡 Your questions, my answers:
I received a couple of questions from paid members in this week’s Q&A Chat thread - here’s my stab at answering them:
1. I wish I could work faster. Any hints?
Faster isn’t always better, but it can be helpful to get things done more efficiently.
Honestly, I think it’s simply a case of practice makes perfect. The more you write, and the more often you do it, the more like muscle memory it becomes. I write fiction so much faster now than I did when I started, just because I do it almost every day.
Focus on making it into a rhythm and find the best ways to block out external distractions.
2. [Paraphrased] Can you clarify who my audience is in Notes? If I post on Notes, who sees it?
The Notes you see from others on your general feed are just those the Substack algorithm has curated based on your activity.
For example, if you interact with Notes from another user, say, a few times, you’ll start seeing more content from that same user, and other content like theirs. So if you want to see more Notes about fitness, try using the category options at the top of your home page and browse content that suits your interest. When you interact with it, you should start to see more of it on your general feed.
You can’t really determine who sees your Notes - it’s just based on who’s following you, and maybe on what kind of content you’re sharing (ie. a very shareable Note will likely reach people beyond your audience).
Any thoughts on these questions/answers? Do you have any of your own?

Can you support me?
Paid subscriptions make up the bulk of my revenue as a writer. The more paying subscribers I have, the more time and effort I can invest in Substack. That’s more time spent writing articles, recording podcasts and videos, running webinars, and creating digital resources designed to help you succeed.
On the flip side, if I don’t get enough financial support, it becomes more and more difficult to maintain my presence here. I’m a one-man band, after all.
So if you enjoy my work and can afford to support me as a paid sub (and want to keep me on Substack for the long-haul), do consider upgrading to my paid tier. The sheer amount of content, insight and ongoing support you’ll receive will pay for your subscription many times over, especially if you become an annual subscriber.
