If you read Tuesday’s post, you already know the core idea:

Promotion doesn’t start when the book is done. It starts when you decide to write it.

But this isn’t just about scheduling launch day six months in advance or hiring a cracking PR team (as if any of us could afford to do that anyway). It’s about becoming visible to your future readers while you’re still in the middle of the confuddling creative process.

Most writers treat their book as a secret until it’s finished (been there myself). They work in silence. Then, one day, they post a link on their Facebook page and say, "It’s here!"

And it lands with a quiet thud.

Ooof.

It’s not because the book isn’t good, either. It’s because no-one was brought along for the ride. No-one even knew a ride was happening.

This post is about fixing that.

I’ll break down a simple, low-pressure approach to showing up consistently, creating anticipation, and inviting people into the journey before you think you have anything worth sharing.

Because the truth is, readers don’t just want the book. They want the story of the book. The making of it. The struggles, the joys, the good and bad choices made along the way.

As is always the case as a writer/creator in the modern era, you don’t need to be an expert for these kind of things to work - you just need to be real.

Here are six ways to quietly start building visibility, interest, and connection around your book (now, not later). I’ve also included a copy-and-paste 3-week pre-launch content prompt calendar to help you get started.
