3 mental shifts to help you achieve online authenticity
You are your framework. Let's talk about how to tap into it.
➡️ If the thought of promoting your writing gives you the heebie-jeebies, make sure to download my free 3-page guide, Sharing Without The Cringe.
Strategies here, frameworks there.
Where do you look and learn?
One person says they know what you need to gain paying subscribers and the other is defiant that you can earn a living online writing rather than a 9-5 job.
Maybe they know, I'm not denying that.
What I do deny and find toxic is how everyone claims they have the perfect framework for you to be successful.
But guess what?
You are your framework. Here’s how to tap into it (and read until the end for the three go-to attitudes to nurture).
Showing up as yourself
Ever thought you must be like someone else online to get the likes and traction you crave?
You don’t need to be anyone else - everyone else is taken, so be yourself.
You attract what you are.
When you show up honestly and humbly, the better you get at it.
Trying to be like someone else is the big mistake many people do because your power lies within you.
You see, we all have our talents.
It's about tapping into them to succeed in writing online.
Your authenticity, your quirks, the way you show up and speak from your heart about a topic that makes your soul light up WILL inspire others. Trust it.
Is there a ten-step strategy for how to write a perfect book or article? No.
Well, when writing that, I hear my journalism lecturer in my head saying I am "too flowery" with words. Aha.
One of the most important things I learnt in my Journalism degree is that short and snappy sentences catch attention.
But then when writing my self-help book Chill Out and Cheer Up: A Ten-Step Guide - Kindle edition by Grossmann, Grace, Scribe, Yellow, Grossmann, Grace, Pibernik, Kaitlyn. Health, Fitness & Dieting Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com., I nurtured my writing style, including the flowery side with poetry, descriptiveness, alliteration.
So yes, you can nurture your writing style, but that will come with time and practice, and not an endless search for frameworks and shortcuts.
There is a lot of noise and advice.
People can help you define your niche, but you must listen to your heart.
When we sign up for this and that, it gets overwhelming.
Staying on your path and succeeding will always include an array of affairs.
Patience is key
PATIENCE is included in the pot of ingredients to succeeding online or at anything in life!
People give up too easily or too quickly.
Surprise: you aren’t going to see results straight away.
Show up as yourself and make it a habit to share your findings and thoughts.
That is how I have grown here in four months to over 400 subscribers by BEING MYSELF.
Some of you may be saying, but how can I be myself when I am just beginning to write or I don’t know who I am?
Discover who you are
That is where I can come in and guide you towards your authenticity.
Together, we become accountable.
Together, we learn and let love lead our way.
Together, we build healthy habits and hone them to our advantage.
Together, in my online community, we are not working on how to build an empire online or come up with shortcuts to earn a million, but much more than that: we are working on ourselves so we can feel, deal, and heal.
Only then, when you work through your limiting beliefs that may subconsciously be holding you back from stepping in your power online, can you shine.

3 tips to get you on your way
I am sure David has way more as he guides people to *actually earn a living online from writing, and admittedly I don’t… yet.
However, I have learnt and read a lot over these past six years, and there are three things that always arise in strategies.
1. Show up, stay consistent
Good things come to those who wait, remember?
When you put in the work, find your flow, and don’t force, you become aligned.
I joined Substack in November last year after a 3.5 year break writing online.
Here’s why and how I have honed writing to be something encouraging again after it became toxic on Medium. Why Taking A Break from Writing Online is One of the Best Decisions I Made
Quickly I made it a habit to show up daily on Notes (I had grown 2k followers on Threads in 4 months previously without any strategy but solely using it as a journal lol) and one more thing:
I knew what my newsletter was providing: Mindful Moments.
That is one of my powers - tapping into my inner calm whenever I need it and I notice more people need it in our stressy society style of go-go-go and never sitting still to reflect and take in the beauty around them.
I learnt this the hard way, but now isn’t time to go into that.
Subscribe to my newsletter and find out how mindfulness became a habit I honed for inner peace.
2. Engage and connect with others
Networking online is fun. Don’t be scared, but be open.
I know a lot of people think they can do this whole business, self-employment, and freelance ting alone.
Sorry to break it to you, but again: we are social creatures. We need each other.
In a time of loneliness and mental health issues, we need each other now more than ever.
We have never (can you believe it) been in such a crisis of mental health on record.
It is shocking and shakes me.
But it also affirms me in what I am doing - helping others come together, find community, and peace so they can prosper in life.

I straight up DM someone if a note or article has touched me. I also ask to do collab posts (like this one, cheers David!).
I have my mum in my ear saying “what is the worse they could say? No. But at least you tried.”
I purposely put myself out my comfort zone everyday - do you?
Here is another collab post I recently did with Leon on the missing puzzle piece to happiness.
3. Trust in your abilities
We are all unique and have something to offer, I promise.
If you don’t know yet, then writing is a tool to work on yourself.
Journal your feelings out and your goals or aspirations.
Make it a duty daily to work towards them.
I can guide you towards your strengths, just reach out. As a well-being coach the past 6 years, I have helped people of all ages tap into their power and speak to themselves better.
Yes, it is the way you talk to yourself that holds how successful you will be: mindset is everything.
I'm sure that David holds a lot of truth in his teachings.
I mean he's grown a lot and I love to see that!
So that's another definite factor I missed - don't be jealous or compare yourself. It is a trap.
Rather, rejoice in others' successes, especially when they are here to help you get there.
Don't envy others when they are being paid big time because I promise you, they have also battled with inferiority and imposter syndrome, right David?!
Don’t ever look at these people online as superior to you.
They, too, have done the hard work, and most likely tapped into these three key factors.
So what are you taking away with you today?
You can write and heal.
That is why I am here - to spread awareness on mental health, guide you towards your inner peace, and show you that you can heal through the power of connection.

This is a great post! I love the concept of us being our framework. Certain copywriting methods are helpful, but wouldn't it be something if we were all our own "algorithm" in the long run by being ourselves?
I didn't show up as myself initially and I suffered dearly for it, but now I'm determined to Write and do what I think and do what I think is best thank you. Patience and identityy friend.
