Ah, content.

The currency of online creators in 2024.

IMMEDIATE CAVEAT: I know some people hate the word content when it’s in reference to writing, so I apologise in advance for using it here. But because the topic of this piece isn’t solely focused on wordsmithery, I can’t avoid it.

Anyhoo…

Content takes a wide variety of forms, but the dominating versions tend to be text (phew!), image, audio and video. You don’t have to look any further than the most popular social media platforms to see that playing out in real time:

  • Text (X/Twitter)

  • Image (Instagram)

  • Audio (Spotify)

  • Video (YouTube/TikTok)

Creating content is a fantastic experience when your artistic juices are in full flow. Writers can bang out entire chapters in a matter of hours, YouTubers can blast their way through multiple videos in one session. If you’re struggling to pinpoint great ideas for your upcoming articles, videos or podcast episodes that’ll create those genuine “Ah-ha!” moments for your audience, give this one a whirl. It works for me and there’s no reason why it won’t work for you, too.

Here’s how it goes….
