Building an audience shouldn't feel like torture

Most audience-building advice will destroy you if you’re an introvert.

(speaking from experience as an introvert)

It’s not because the advice is bad, and it’s not because you’re doing it wrong. It’s because it’s designed for people who get energy from constant interaction, performance, and visibility.

And if that’s not you, you’ll last about three weeks before you’re completely fried and ready to quit the whole thing.

I’ve watched this happen over and over. Smart writers and creators with good ideas who try to keep up with the “post everywhere, engage constantly, always be visible” playbook, and then vanish because they can’t sustain it.

The problem isn’t your discipline. It’s not your commitment.

It’s that you’re using strategies built for a completely different operating system.

What if you could build differently?

I’m running a live session on Friday 27th February at 4pm (UK time) for paid subscribers.

It’s called The Introvert’s Guide to Building an Audience (Without Flaming Out).

It’s not going to be about pushing through discomfort or forcing yourself to be more extroverted. It’s about finding the specific strategies that work when you need time alone to recharge, when live content makes you anxious, and when the idea of “building relationships” with 50 people a day sounds horrendous.

Because here’s what I’ve learned - introverts can absolutely build audiences.

We just don’t enjoy doing it the way everyone tells us to.

What we’re covering in 60 minutes

  1. The myths making you miserable: Why “post everywhere” and “engage constantly” advice burns introverts out, and what to do instead.

  2. The Energy Zones framework: How to identify which activities grow your audience without draining you (and which ones you have permission to ignore entirely).

  3. The sustainable system: Five practical pillars that let you keep going consistently for years (not months), including how to collaborate without awkward networking and when to schedule recovery before you need it.

  4. Your next seven days: Specific actions you can take this week that actually work with how you’re wired.

This is a 60-minute session with time for questions at the end. There’ll be no generic advice about how to “just be yourself.” I won’t sugarcoat this one. You’ll get real strategies you can use immediately.

Who’s this for?

  • You’re an introvert who wants to build something that lasts, but every time you try the standard advice, you flame out and give up.

  • You know what drains you. You know what energises you. You just need someone to tell you it’s okay to build around that knowledge instead of fighting it.

  • You’re tired of feeling guilty for not wanting to go live, not engaging on 47 different posts per day, not “showing up” in all the ways you’re told you should.

  • You want an actual plan that doesn’t require you to become someone else.
