Our next interview is with Canadian author Nicolette Fuller, author of The New Age Series.
Nicolette, tell me a little about yourself.
I'm Nicolette Fuller. Mom, wife, crazy artist, and writer who is fueled by caffeine and wine. I'm from the Okanagan located in BC Canada. I've been here all my life and absolutely love my city as it has a bit of everything. From ski mountains to a beautiful lake it's always resonated as home.
I was always a creative child but never quite knew where my creativity would take me. I really enjoy art and writing and over the years it's brought me a slew of opportunities and different experiences.
Although I've been writing for some time, publishing my works has been a whole new journey. It's been a crazy ride and a learning experience but one that I've really come to enjoy.
When did your writing journey begin? Have you always wanted to be an author?
I started writing longer stories when I was around 13 as something to do, kind of as a way to escape reality. I gradually got into poetry in my later angsty teenage years and from there started dabbling more in writing for my own enjoyment.
It wasn't until COVID hit that my husband (James Fuller) said I should do something with the main story I was playing with and actually publish it. I hadn't ever really considered publishing my written work until that point. He had been writing for some time and really pushed me into it. I'm glad he did.
What's your all-time favourite novel?
The black jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop. There's just something about the characters and dialogue that really pulls me into her series. I think I've read it about five or six times now. It's my comfort read that I go back to.
How many novels have you completed so far?
I have 9 of them done so far, including two comedic self-help books: You're Not Special, And That's Okay and I Need Dis, No The F' You Don't. I have seven that are part of my New Age series, which is a dystopian romance. With my New Age series, I have 4 out of the 7 currently out. I'm just waiting for release dates as they're going through edits and formatting.
And what are you working on right now?
I'm currently working on the last three books of my New Age Series (and the prequel.) I've been bouncing back and forth between them, trying to make sure they really hit hard emotion-wise.
I had originally ended the series with book seven but knew I had left something hanging... so I started back with the last two books in order to shake things up and totally twist the MC's fate. I'm also writing "The Underground" a crime romance when I'm just not in the mood for sci-fi.
What's been your biggest challenge as a writer?
Finding the time. During COVID-19, I had all of the time in the world to sit down and write. Nothing was going on, and so life kind of came to a halt for a bit. Now that everything has picked up, I'm busy again with life. Beyond that there's work, being a mom and wife, and just the hustle and bustle of real life.
Which online platforms help support your journey?
Twitter (or X): I've found my people on there. From fans to friends and fellow writers. Bloggers, creators, everyone is on there, and I love it! It's been an amazing platform to mingle, chat, and connect with other writers, creators, and just random people.
And where can people find you online?
99% of everything I do is on Twitter. You sometimes get moment-by-moment updates of what I'm doing.
Do you have any big plans for the future?
I have a number of writing ideas/books on the back burner. I want to keep writing and creating. I hope my main series blows up someday and will be seen as a live-action series (Hey Netflix, interested?).
Finally, can you share a golden nugget of advice for any aspiring authors reading this?
Don't believe that you can't do this yourself. So many authors think they need agents and that publishers won't take books that have been self-published.
None of that is true. Google is your friend and is such a resourceful tool. Use it in every way possible. Publishers take unsolicited manuscripts all the time.
You just need to find out the where, when, and how (Google).

Great interview. I found it very compelling. ❤️
